AN APPEAL TO THE WARRIER SAMAJAM AND ALL ITS WELLWISHERS

Dear All,

In continuation of my article "NEEDED - A SELF-CRITICAL INTROSPECTION" submitted to the Warrier Samajam President and General Secretary with an appeal for discussing these at the DB meeting on April 10, I wish to bring to your personal attention the specific reference in my article to the present situation regarding the Ambalavaasi Aikya Vedi.  I think much needs to be done not only for our community but for all socalled "forward" Hindu communities - Nambudiris, Tamil Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Warriers, Pisharodis, Nambeesans and a host of other small forward communities from among the culturally-akin and temple-related Hindu communities in Kerala.

Vishu, a festive occasion celebrated in Kerala in South India, marks the beginning of the agriculture calendar in Kerala. The festival that comes in the Malayalam month of Medam (April to May) has significance for Kerala’s agricultural practices. As per Indian astrology, on the auspicious day of Vishu, the Sun transits from Meenam zodiac to Medam. This festival is similar to Bihu, the festival celebrated in Assam. It is known by different names and is celebrated in other parts of India too.

1.  Computer Literacy campaigns should be undertaken in all districts for boys, girls, and housewives with the target of achieving total computer literacy for all warriers, men and women, young and old, within a stipulated time-target. Unemployed warrier youth should be fully brought into the programme as learners and instructors.  The Trivandrum Unit has already set the model, style and standard : now it needs to be extended to the entire Warrier and other Forward Hindu Minority Communities.
